Finding content ideas for blog posts can be hard, especially if you publish more than once a week. Having a topic in mind makes your blogging more agreeable and easier.
But when you don’t have a clue of what to write about. You may end up sitting front of your desk for a quite long time wondering what would make a good topic for your website. Don’t worry. This happens to all bloggers and to avoid finding yourself in this situation.
You need ways to find specific blog topics that you can write about, and that is both accurate and useful to your audience. I’ve been blogging for a quite long time now, and the methods I’ve found to generate my content ideas work like a charm. So today, I’ll show you 8 best way how to find content for your website!
1 Keyword Research, Popular Platforms
Keyword research is one of the most known ways to find topic ideas for your website. They are several good platforms to perform keywords. Some of them are free while others require a subscription.
The one I use is Jaxy, a powerful tool created by WA founders, I am allowed to use it for free because I am a WA premium member. Otherwise, I would have to pay for it.
The Semruch and Spyfu are also paid tools. I’ve never tried them, but I’ve read positive reviews about these platforms. The Google Keyword Planner and the Ubersuggest are free tools that give you monthly searches and competition. But they don’t provide depth details as the paid tools do.
2. Answer the Public
The answer the public is a free tool provided by Google and Bing. I personally think that it is one of the best sources of research for blog topic idea for your website.
You get tons of keywords in just one click. All you have to do is to type in the box a keyword you want to find topics around and click the button ” Get question.”
Note: by default, this tools pools result from the UK. So you will need to set it to the US from the drop-down if you are from the US.
However, if you subscribe to their email, they will send you a small course on how to use it.
Once you get the results, you can add some of the topics in one of the tools I mentioned below.
- Jaxy
- Ubersuggest
- Google Keyword Planner
- Semruch
In doing this, not only you will generate an abundance of blog ideas, but it will also save you plenty of time. Which you really need when blogging!
3. Get Bunch of Ideas Via Q&A Websites
There are platforms where people ask all sorts of questions and get answers to them. For instance, Quora, Yahoo Answers, Fluther and Ask Metafilter, are the most used websites for these purposes.
Type the topic or keyword in the search box, and you’ll be surprised on the amount of questions and answers you’ll get.
Strolling through these sites can give you plenty of topics to write around. Moreover, it gives you the opportunity to identify long-tail-keywords that you can integrate into your blog posts.
4. Search Via Forums Related to Your Niche
When I run out of ideas, I often search in forums for blog topics. I am not the only one who does this. In fact, all bloggers find inspiration in forum websites. And if you run a blog, you should too in your specific niche.
To find your niche forum, type in Google ” Your Keyword or topic + Forum,” and you’ll get the forums related to your niche.
Pick the question you find useful and add it to a keyword tool to generate blog topic idea for your website. It’s simple as that!
5. Set Up Google Alert
Almost all marketers use Google Alert. This tool provides instant notification via email about new products, services, and information. In all niches.
If you are a blogger, then you must have heard about Google Alert. Maybe you are already using it. If you are new to this, I highly recommend you to set up a Google Alert.
You can choose any topic you want. Let’s say, you type Amazon, you’ll receive the latest news, and you can do this with all categories.
6. Read Comments
Like forums, comments on posts is a great way to find new topic ideas. I don’t say to check every post that you see on the net. What I mean is you should look for the ones that rank on the first page of Google in your niche.
I guarantee you that you will find a bunch of questions and answers that will inspire you!
7. Brainstorm Using Google Console
This method is a bit advanced if you are a beginner, but it is by far one of the best ways to generate blog topics. And if you follow these steps below, you’ll find plenty of new topics!

2) Next to the Queries button, above your keyword data, there is a page button, click on it.
3) Click on one of the URLs you chose
4) Click on Queries and voila, you have all the related terms for only one URL. Imagine you do the same with all of them.
8. Read Magazines, Are You Joking?
Whether online or offline, magazines offer plenty of topic ideas. And we, marketers, don’t always take advantage of it.
I defy you to read a magazine article in your niche.
I bet you’ll find more blog ideas than you thought. So don’t ever overlook magazines.

These are some excellent ideas on how to find content for a niche, and I thoroughly enjoyed the read. One of my biggest concerns in affiliate marketing is how to convey a good review of a product that I do not own. While I do have a passion for my niche, I am a bit broke and don’t have enough money to try everything I review. Do you think that it is possible to make a conveying review only through research?
Hi Jacob,
Many marketers start their business online with nothing, and they succeed. You can definitely write an honest review without owning the product. It’s nearly impossible to buy everything unless you have a lot of money. Once your business starts to grow, you can buy the products you want to review.
Hi Daniella,
This is a great article on finding content for your website. Even though I know about some of these ways, I bookmarked your site.
Magazines are a great source of finding content and I don’t think a lot of people would think about using magazines.
The keyword tools are about the best ways but forums and Q&A’s are good too.
Forums and comments can really be a big help too.
Is there one particular method that you find is better than the others?
Hi Rob,
Indeed, all of these methods are effective to generate content.
Is there a particular one that I like better?
Yes, my favorite tools are Google Console and the Answer the Public. I always find good keywords there. Once I have them, I put each one in the keyword tool to generate more topics.
Thanks for the bookmark and the comment!
I actually heard about Answer the public from Pat Flynn through his email marketing webinar. He also suggested to me that I could find topics to write about by asking my subscribers if they are having any trouble with any certain topic. Is their an overlap of keywords that will be suggested if I use both ubersuggest as well as answerthepublic? Or do they both give unique ideas? I don’t want to have any redundancies when looking for topics to write about with similar keywords.
Hi Jessie,
Yes, many marketers use the Answer The Public, it’s a great tool! Also asking the subscribers what topic they would like the author to write about is very useful!
The Answer The Public and the Ubersuggest are two different tools. The first one “Answer The Public” gives you plenty of question ideas such as (Who, When, What, etc.. whereas the Ubersuggest is a keyword tool that gives the amount of search and other metrics. If you put a keyword from the Ubersuggest in the Answer The Public, it will give you more topic ideas.
